On August 30, 2016, the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) issued new regulations under California Proposition 65 concerning the exposure warnings required for consumer products. These amended regulations go into effect on August 30, 2018. The changes are meant to provide the public with more informative warnings while at the same time providing some flexibility as to the content and delivery of the warnings.

We have worked with a technical consulting service to develop a compliance workbook to act as tool for you when evaluating your products and materials. This workbook contains a screening level assessment for indirect hand-to-mouth exposure to Proposition 65-listed chemicals, as well as a screening level inhalation exposure assessment. This workbook also contains a tool to determine the concentration of Proposition 65-listed chemicals in product components that would pose a “significant risk” under Proposition 65 based on expected use scenarios of average consumers. Additionally, this workbook contains a template for how to evaluate Safety Data Sheets and Materials Analysis information from a Proposition 65 perspective.
